Houses and Hide-Away's Several different styles of houses and hide-away's are available to suit your taste and needs. If you have something special in mind, let us know! We will customize a house just for you! Chinchilla Hidey-House
Tired of paying ridiculous prices for cheap houses at the pet
store that don't last? Try out the Hidey House! It's a solid-construction of
3/4" thick kiln-dried pine. The overall size is approximately 8" x
11" x 8" inches, and features a flat roof for an additional place for your chin
to perch. You may choose to customize your house by adding a 4" diameter
"Peek-A-Boo" roof hole on either end or in the center of the roof, for an
additional fee. Unless otherwise requested, the "Peek-A-Boo" roof hole will be
placed on the end above the front doorway. Another customization option is a
1-5/8" diameter window, also for an additional fee. Upon request, the doorway
and window configurations can be made in reverse of what is pictured at no additional
charge. No hardware is used in the construction of this house, so it's safe for
chinnies to chew to their heart's delight. Some houses from pet stores are assembled
with nails that are dangerous when exposed by the natural chewing instinct of your
chinchilla. Hardware is available for an additional charge if you would like to
attach the house to the side of the cage.
Can't decide if you want a Hidey-House or a Daybed for your
special chin? Well you don't have to choose between them, because you can have them
BOTH in one item! We've added a Daybed to the top of our Hidey-House for a
combination to please even the most finicky chinchilla (or owner). The overall size
is approximately 8" x 11" x 10" inches, made from a solid-construction of
3/4" thick kiln-dried pine. No hardware is used in the construction of this
house, so it's safe for chinnies to chew to their heart's delight. The only
hardware is a clip and a screw-eye to attach the Pilla to the top (on the back side of the
house). Some houses from pet stores are assembled with nails that are dangerous when
exposed by the natural chewing instinct of your chinchilla. This item is available
with your choice of headboard style (see the Daybed for selections) and fabric choice (see fabric selections page). It is
available with or without the 1-5/8" diameter window. If you choose, the
doorway and window configurations can be made in reverse of what is pictured at no
additional charge. Hardware is available for an additional charge if you would like
to attach the house to the side of the cage. Do you already have a house or does
your chin not care to use a house? Consider treating your chin to our original Daybed!
Chillin' Chilla House
This version of our Hidey-House helps keep your chin cool. The
overall size is approximately 8-1/2" x 11" x 8", made from a
solid-construction of 3/4" thick kiln-dried pine. The roof features a gray
ceramic tile top for a great place for your chin to "chill" and cool off.
The tile slides out for easy cleaning. No hardware is used in the construction of
this house, so it's safe for chinnies to chew to their heart's delight. Some houses
from pet stores are assembled with nails that are dangerous when exposed by the natural
chewing instinct of your chinchilla. Available with or without the 1-5/8"
diameter window. Upon request, the doorway and window configurations can be made in
reverse of what is pictured at no additional charge. Hardware is available for an
additional charge if you would like to attach the house to the side of the cage.
Southwest Mission
Another variation of our Daybed House, this version has an
"igloo like" portico on the front around the doorway. The overall size is
approximately 11-1/2" x 7-1/2" x 8-1/4", and 1" x 1-3/4" windows
are featured on both sides of the house. Due to the fact that this house has only
one doorway, we recommend this item for single chinchillas only. The inside
dimensions of the house allow for a Chin Chiller (not included) to be placed either inside
the house (for a floor) or in the top where the mattress is. Removal of the Chin
Chiller tile may require turning the house upside down if one is used on the roof.
The overhang above the single door is 3" x 4", which is large enough for your
chin to use it as a leaping ledge to and from the bed on top. This durable house is made
from a solid-construction of 3/4" thick kiln-dried pine. Included is a Chilla
Pilla, in your choice of available fleece (see fabric
selections page), perfectly sized for the mattress of the bed. No hardware is
used in the construction of this house, so it's safe for chinnies to chew to their heart's
delight. Some houses from pet stores are assembled with nails that are dangerous
when exposed by the natural chewing instinct of your chinchilla. The only hardware
is a clip and an eye screw to attach the Pilla to the top (on the back side of the
house). Hardware is available for an additional charge if you would like to attach
the house to the side of the cage. Do you already have a house or does your chin not
care to use a house? Consider treating your chin to our original Daybed!
Tunnel Home
A combination of our regular Play 'n Snooze Tunnel and a house,
this item is ideal for cages without a lot of extra room for accessories. The Tunnel
Home features two 1-5/8" round windows on the side facing into the cage, as well as a
1" extension of the back side to help contain droppings in the cage. The
measurements of this item are 11" x 8" x 9". The Tunnel Home has a
solid wood floor and each end has an arched doorway. The Tunnel Home mounts
securely to the side of any cage with provided hardware. You may also choose to
customize your Tunnel Home by adding a 4" diameter "Peek-A-Boo" hole in the
roof for an additional fee. No hardware is used in the construction of this item, so
it's safe for chinnies to chew to their heart's delight. Some houses from pet stores
are assembled with nails that are dangerous when exposed by the natural chewing instinct
of your chinchilla. For your chin's safety, we recommend strategic placement of
shelving or ledges below the Tunnel Home at each end so there is somewhere to jump into
and out of the Tunnel Home. This item may also be placed on the floor of the cage
instead of mounted or used as an out of cage playtime toy.
Chinchilla Manor
A super-sized version of our regular Hidey House, this house is
sure to be roomy enough for the largest of chins or a pair. Measurements of this
house are a generous 14" x 8" x 8". Like the original Hidey House,
this house is made of 3/4" thick kiln-dried pine, and features a flat roof for an
additional place for your chin to perch. The doorway and window configurations can
be made in reverse of what is pictured, upon request at no additional charge. Also
upon request, the smaller 1-5/8" diameter window shown on other houses may be
substituted for the standard 4" window. If you choose, you may further
customize your house by adding a 4" diameter "Peek-A-Boo" roof hole on
either end or in the center of the roof, for an additional fee. Unless otherwise
requested, the "Peek-A-Boo" roof hole will be placed on the end above the front
doorway.
This item can also be converted to a
super-sized Mountain Lodge style house.
Chinchilla Manor Daybed
The Chinchilla Manor Daybed is a larger version of our Daybed
House and is perfect for larger chins, a pair, or single chins who enjoy sleeping sprawled
out. The overall size is approximately 14"x 8" x 10" inches, made
from a solid-construction of 3/4" thick kiln-dried pine. No hardware is used in
the construction of this house, so it's safe for chinnies to chew to their heart's
delight. The only hardware is a clip and a screw-eye to attach the Pilla to the top
(on the back side of the house). Some houses from pet stores are assembled with
nails that are dangerous when exposed by the natural chewing instinct of your chinchilla.
This item is available with your choice of headboard style (see the Daybed
for selections) and fabric choice (see fabric
selections page). It is available with or without the window. The smaller
1-5/8" diameter window shown on other houses may also be substituted for the standard
4" window upon request. Also upon request, the doorway and window
configurations can be made in reverse of what is pictured at no additional charge.
Hardware is available for an additional charge if you would like to attach the house to
the side of the cage. Do you already have a house or does your chin not care to use
a house? Consider treating your chin to our original Daybed!
The Chin Cave
The Chin Cave is the perfect sleeping spot for chinchillas that
prefer to be totally hidden away. Two 1-5/8" diameter windows on each side
provide ventilation, but are small enough that your chinchilla still feels enclosed.
This secluded retreat for your chinchilla measures approximately 11" x 8" x
9" and features a solid-wooden floor. This house can be mounted on the side of
the cage with optional mounting hardware, available for a small additional charge.
Due to the fact that this house has only one doorway, we recommend this item for single
chinchillas only. You may choose to customize your house by adding a 4"
diameter "Peek-A-Boo" roof hole on either end or in the center of the roof, for
an additional fee. Unless otherwise requested, the "Peek-A-Boo" roof hole
will be placed on the end opposite the doorway. No hardware is used in the
construction of this house, so it's safe for chinnies to chew to their heart's
delight. Some houses from pet stores are assembled with nails that are dangerous
when exposed by the natural chewing instinct of your chinchilla.
Mountain Lodge
Designed to mount in the corner of a cage, the Mountain Lodge is
our standard Hidey House with a companion mounting shelf so you can place the house high
in the cage where many chinchillas prefer to sleep. The house itself measures
approximately 11" x 8" x 8", and is shown here with an optional 4"
diameter "Peek-A-Boo" roof hole and optional 1-5/8" diameter window.
The house features two arched doorways, both leading to the porch formed by the
shelf. The shelf measures approximately 11" x 17" so there is plenty of
porch space for your chinchilla to safely leap onto it from another nearby ledge.
The corner of the shelf is rounded so there are no sharp edges for your chinchilla to leap
into and injure itself. The house fastens to the side of the cage with a hanger
bolt, washer and wing nut, so it is secure on the shelf and cannot fall off, yet it's easy
to remove for cleaning inside. This house and shelf combination can be made in
reverse of what is shown at no additional charge. Please specify if you
would like the house on the left or the right end of the shelf when ordering.
Unless otherwise
requested, the optional "Peek-A-Boo roof hole will be placed on the end above the
front doorway. If this house isn't large enough for
your needs, see our Mountain Lodge Manor below!

The Chini Van
What chin wouldn't love to hide and romp in their very own
vehicle? The Chini Van allows your chin to do just that! There are three ways
the chin can come and go: through the "windshield", through the apple shaped
back window or through the circular side door. The wheels on the Chini Van are
replaceable should they become chewed. Measuring approximately 14" x
7-1/2" x 8", the Chini Van is a great item to add to your collection of
out-of-cage playtime items. The Chini Van could also be used as a hidey-house inside
the cage. We recommend attaching the Chini Van to the wall of your cage with our
optional attachment hardware if you plan to use it on a shelf other than the lowest level
of your chin's cage, for safety. Add a Chilla Pilla inside and make it into a very
cool bed! This cute playtime toy is also suitable for rats, degus, ferrets and other
small furries.
Play Cube A, B or C
These Cubes were originally designed as components to a large play structure, but they could easily be used individually as hide-aways in a cage. Each Cube measures 9" x 9" x 8". For pricing and more information about the Cubes, please see the full listing for the Play Cubes.
Mini Play Cube
A slightly smaller version of our original Play Cubes, this
out-of-cage playtime toy can also double as a hide-away in your chin's cage.
Replaceable chew blocks adorn three sides of this 8" x 8" x 8" cube.
One side of the cube is solid while the other three sides feature shape cut-outs (our
choice). The possible shapes are circle, square, octagon, triangle and apple.
If you plan to use the Mini Play Cube inside the cage on a shelf, we recommend
purchasing the optional attachement hardware for your chin's safety.
