Play Items This page offers creative play structures for your special chinchilla! These are meant to be chewed on! All of the items on this page have been "chinnie-approved" by the designer's own chinchillas so you can feel good about offering them to your chin! Chinnie Chew-Chew
All Aboard! is what your chinchillas
will be saying to themselves when they play with this very cute steam engine play
toy! You'll need to get a little engineer's cap for your chin when he or she plays
with it! Your chin can hop aboard through the back of the engine cab, as well as
through the front of the boiler (into the tube). The overall size of this play
structure is 26" x 7" x 10". Window sizes are 1" x 2" and
1-5/8". Colored (with safe food coloring, of course) decorative blocks on the
train may vary in size, shape and color. These blocks are all attached with wooden
dowels so they are removable for replacement! You can easily make your own
replacement chews if you'd like or order one of our replacement chew block packs.
Over the drive wheels of the engine, we've provided two 6" pieces of steel chain that
are clipped on with lanyard hooks and screw eyes so you can string your own chew toys for
extra chewing fun! You may also remove these if you prefer. There's even a
bell that rings on the back! The 4" diameter tube is replaceable, as are the wheels of the engine
and the chewable smoke stack (shown is mulberry) on the front of the engine. Smoke
stack wood chew provided will be our selection of chinnie-safe wood. The front
wooden piece removes easily for replacement of the tube. We recommend disassembling
the engine and taking the front piece with you to the store when purchasing a replacement
tube. We've found that there are variances in the diameter of the tube, so it's
possible you may pick up one that doesn't fit properly. Due to the fact that we have
found these variances in tube diameters, we cannot offer replacement tubes as a regular
replacement item. However, if you are having difficulty finding replacement tubes in
your area, please contact us and we'll try
to help you as best we can. The Chinnie Chew Chew is shipped partially disassembled
and assembles in just a few minutes with no tools necessary!
Chin-A-Bago
RVing has quickly become one of America's great summer vacation
ideas. Let your chin hit the road in our Chin-A-Bago RV! Measuring
approximately 18" x 6-1/2" x 8", it's a great size for your chin to hide
and play in during out of cage playtime. There are three ways the chin can come and
go: through the "windshield", through the open back or through the side
door. The back of the RV even has a spare tire! All the wheels on the
Chin-A-Bago, including the spare, as well as the headlights are replaceable should they
become chewed. This cute playtime toy is also suitable for rats, degus, ferrets and
other small furries.
The Chini Van
What chin wouldn't love to hide and romp in their very own
vehicle? The Chini Van allows your chin to do just that! There are three ways
the chin can come and go: through the "windshield", through the shaped
back window (our choice of shape) or through the circular side door. The wheels on the Chini Van are
replaceable should they become chewed. Measuring approximately 14" x
7-1/2" x 8" inches, the Chini Van is a great item to add to your collection of
out of cage playtime items. The Chini Van could also be used as a hidey-house inside
the cage. Add a Chilla Pilla inside and make it into a very cool bed! This
cute playtime toy is also suitable for rats, degus, ferrets and other small furries.
Pickup Bed
The chinnie chicks will dig your chin when they see the mattress
in the bed of his pickup, and he's sure to be the absolute envy of all his buddies!
Treat your cool dude to the very coolest of beds. Measuring approximately 14" x
7-1/2" x 8", this bed has plenty of room for your chin to stretch out and relax
in style. This bed is primarily designed to sit on the lower floor of your chin's
cage. It may also be mounted in a corner of your chin's cage with the optional
attachment hardware. For safety, we do not recommend placing this on a shelf without
the optional attachment hardware, as it could easily fall off and hurt your chin.
Included is a Chilla Pilla, in your choice of available fleece, perfectly sized for the
mattress of the bed. The wheels on the Pickup Bed are replaceable should they become
chewed. This macho truck could also be used as a playtime toy for your manly little
guy. Of course, if your girlie chin happens to like trucks, you can doll the truck
up a bit with a feminine Pilla. This would be very hip with a pink or flowered
mattress! If you purchase the truck as a bed, but your chin decides not to sleep in
it, you can always remove it from the cage and use it as a out of cage playtime toy!
Treat your active chinchilla to a special toy for out-of-cage
playtime! These innovative hidey-cubes are sold separately so you can mix and match
and add to your set gradually. Purchase all of the Cubes and have a large playtime
toy, or purchase just one for use inside the cage. An individual Cube could also
double as a sleeping house. There are several possibilities for configurations with
this toy, as you can connect two "A" Cubes together with the bridge, or two
"B" Cubes may be attached together with the Bridge as well. All are made
of kiln-dried pine and assembled with non-toxic wood glue. All Cubes are 9" x
9" x 8" (outside dimension). We've found that there are variances in the
diameter of the tube, so we recommend taking one of the Cubes that connect with a tube
with you when purchasing a replacement and check for a snug fit. Due to the fact
that we have found these variances in tube diameters, we cannot offer replacement tubes as
a regular replacement item. However, if you are having difficulty finding

Cube A:
Cube A features 3 shape cut-outs (our choice) and one solid wall. The possible shapes are square, octagon, triangle, apple and circle. This cube also includes two 1/4" diameter aluminum rods which hold chew toys to increase the fun of this out-of-cage play toy. There is approximately 1/2" between the rod and the side of the Cube. The colored block chews pictured are included with this cube. Replacing the chews when needed is very simple. The rod simply slides up out of the holder. We suggest the hole in the chew toys used be at least 3/8". The block of wood above the rod holder lifts off easily for installation of the bridge.
Cube B:
Cube B features 4 shape cut-outs (our choice). One side of the cube will have a circle to accommodate attaching the tube to Cube C. The other possible shapes are square, octagon, triangle and apple. This cube also includes two 1/4" diameter aluminum rods which hold chew toys to increase the fun of this out-of-cage play toy. There is approximately 1/2" between the rod and the side of the Cube. Bridge:
The bridge is 12" x 9" x 4" and attaches Cubes A and B (or A and A or B and B) together with wooden dowel pins that come pre-installed on the underside of the bridge. There are holes for the dowel pins under the removable block piece on both Cube A and Cube B. The holes in the bridge rails are 1-5/8" and 1-1/4".
Tube: (photo coming soon!) The tube will either be a 4" T-Rex or Chube brand critter chew tube available at some pet stores. We advise if you are planning to use the tube with your Cubes, that you take one of the Cubes with you to the store to be sure that the tube you purchase for your set actually fits, as we've found that some have not. We also advise if you are going to use the tube, that you do not offer the Cubes with the tube connector cutout to your chin before you have the tube, unless your chin isn't a big chewer. If the hole is chewed much, the tube likely will not stay in place as it should. Due to the fact that we have found variances in tube diameters, we cannot offer replacement tubes as a regular replacement item. Play Cubes Replacement Chew Blocks Pack:
Have a set of chew blocks handy for quick replacement of the blocks on your chin's Play Cubes. You'll receive a template for drilling your own chew toys for the blocks with the Cubes, but some people don't have access to a drill or don't want to bother, so we offer our Replacement Chew Blocks Pack. It's an assortment colored and plain chew blocks, drilled and ready to replace the worn out chews on your chin's Play Cubes.
Play Cubes Castle Tower
The latest addition to our Play Cubes set, the Castle Tower is
approximately 9" x 9" x 15". The height of the bottom of the cube portion
allows your chin to access the Tower from the top of any of the other Play Cubes through
the gothic shaped doorway. Two 1" x 2" windows are featured on both sides
of the Tower. The lower half of the Tower can be used to hang chew toys or whatever
your imagination can dream up. You may also leave it plain, as shown. Just
screw a small eye screw into the underside of the cube portion of the Tower and clip on a
chew toy. Be careful not to use too long of an eye screw so you don't puncture
through the floor above. The thickness of the floor is 3/4". An eye screw
with a thread length of approximately 1/2" is recommended.
Mini Play Cube
A slightly smaller version of our original Play Cubes, this
out-of-cage playtime toy can also double as a hide-away in your chin's cage.
Replaceable chew blocks adorn three sides of this 8" x 8" x 8" cube.
One side of the cube is solid while the other three sides feature shape cut-outs (our
choice). The possible shapes are circle, square, octagon, triangle and apple.
If you plan to use the Mini Play Cube inside the cage on a shelf, we recommend
purchasing the optional attachement hardware for your chin's safety.
Cage Staircase
Is your chinchilla's cage in the room where you let him or her
out to play? Our staircase allows you to just open the door for playtime. The
chin can hop down the stairs and out for playtime on his or her own! Maybe your chin
will even go back to the cage when done playing (one could hope)! Our cage staircase
measures 15" wide, 11" deep and the height will be appropriate for your cage
type. Staircases can be sized for any cage, up to a maximum staircase height of
20". We just need to know the distance from the lower edge of the door to the
floor. Made of kiln-dried pine and featuring two 6" deep treads, which are
7" apart, plus 4" diameter circle cutouts at the bottom, this staircase becomes
part of the play zone once the chin is out of the cage. For extra fun, try screwing
a couple eye screws (not included) into the underside of the lower step and hang chew toys
for your chins chewing pleasure! The thickness of the treads is 3/4". Be
careful not to use too long of an eye screw so you don't puncture through the top of the
stair tread. An eye screw with a thread length of approximately 1/2" is
recommended.
